TierPoint to expand Baltimore data center capacity to 65,000 sqf
Build will add to the company’s 40 hubs in the US and is the continuation of an ongoing expansion roadmap.
Colocation services provider TierPoint has laid out its expansion plans with the addition of a $10m data centre facility in Baltimore, US.
The new 35,000 sqf facility will add to the company’s existing 30,000 sqf available in the region. The data centre will amount to 23,000 sqf of raised floor space.
The carrier-neutral facility is expected to become operational by spring 2018 and will include fully redundant and generator-backed power, and diverse high-speed network connectivity.
The data centre will use multi-layer physical security and will also feature infrastructure support, office and shared work space for clients.
Jim Weller, TierPoint Vice President and General Manager, said: “The new data centre allows us to respond to growing demand in the Baltimore/Washington DC region, including from the rapidly growing number of information and cybersecurity firms in the BWI corridor.
“In addition to the robust power and dense fiber optic connectivity available in the area, the location is easily accessible for current and future customers.”
TierPoint operates today a total of 40 data centres across 20 US markets.
The company has in 2017 already also announced a 60,000 sqf data centre in Oklahoma and a 53,000 sqf expansion in Nashville, in partnership with Compass Data Centers.
