Schneider Electric premiers EcoStruxure from 1,000 data centres

Data Centre Management as a Service architecture promises to up infrastructure optimisation game and mitigate risks that cost businesses thousands of dollars every year.

Energy management and automation giant Schneider Electric has launched what the company claims to be the first Data Centre Management as a Service architecture which has been trialled in 1,000 data centres.

Named EcoStruxure IT, the solution provides proactive insights on critical assets that impact the health and availability of an IT environment with the ability to deliver actionable real-time recommendations to optimise infrastructure performance and mitigate risk.

As part of the EcoStruxure IT ecosystem, Schneider Electric has also launched the EcoStruxure IT Expert and the EcoStruxure IT Advisor.

Firstly, the Expert delivers visibility across the hybrid environment from anywhere with one tap access direct from any computer or smart phone with the Mobile Insights application.

Secondly, Advisor addresses the need for greater system optimisation and inventory management for enterprise and colocation users.

As part of the launch, the architecture was piloted in the US, benchmarking IT environments with more than 500 customers, 1,000 data centres, 60,000 devices and 2 million sensors.

The company said it plans to roll out EcoStruxure IT to select geographies over the remainder of 2017 and into 2018.

Dave Johnson, Executive Vice President, IT Division, Schneider Electric, said: “The growing complexity and diversity of critical data centre environments coupled with reduced budget and staff have led to a management challenge for data centre professionals.

“The first step in overcoming this challenge is through a cloud-first management strategy. EcoStruxure IT provides global access and insights to data centre environments from anywhere, at any time on any device.

“Bringing this level of visibility and access to our customers will enable them to benchmark their entire IT ecosystem while providing trend analysis, intelligent maintenance and more, all while reducing risks and increasing efficiency.”
