HostPapa strengthens Canadian hosting offering with acquisition
The company made three US acquisitions last year and offers services across Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
HostPapa, the Canada-headquartered web hosting services firm, has acquired yet another rival in the form of Mezzohost. With this acquisition, HostPapa now serves over 150,000 customers worldwide with domains, web hosting, security, email and cloud services.
Founded in 2009 in Vancouver, Canada, Mezzohost focuses on website security, uptime and web hosting technical support. HostPapa says it identified Mezzohost as a “compelling investment opportunity” based on its direct experience providing “niche web hosting services” to the Canadian market.
The acquisition further strengthens HostPapa’s brand of managed hosting services in the Canadian arena, following the completed purchases of Lunarpages, PacificHost and Santa Barbara last year, all of which mainly served the US market.
HostPapa CEO Jamie Opalchuk said: “Through the acquisition of Mezzohost we continue our ongoing consolidation strategy in the hosting market, specifically in Canada. We’re excited to welcome each Mezzohost customer to the HostPapa family and we’d like to let them know that we’ll go above and beyond to help their businesses succeed.”
For Mezzohost’s customers, he said, the acquisition means access to better infrastructure and a wide portfolio of fully-featured hosting packages, all backed by customer service available 24/7 by phone, email or chat, and all powered by renewable green energy.
In order to ensure a seamless and hassle-free transition, he added, HostPapa will “prioritise” upgrading all the newly acquired customers’ infrastructure, along with “enhancing their current support coverage” and potential portfolio of services.
HostPapa is headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, Canada and offers services to a number of international markets in Europe and Asia, as well as the US.
