HostDime expands beyond Equinix, Level 3 and opens first data centre in Brazil
Company aims to increase its client base in the Northeast of the country as currently 70% of customers are based in the South and Southeast.
Hosting services company HostDime has brought online its first data centre in Brazil, in an investment of $15m to grow its business in the South American region.
The Tier III facility in João Pessoa – the second in the region following Ascenty’s building in Fortaleza – will be used to strengthen HostDime’s services in the Northeast of the country, which was until now served from an Equinix data centre in Tambore and a Level 3 site in Cotia.
The two-floor João Pessoa data centre has been designed to offer maximum latency speeds of ten milliseconds, as the site is linked to other data centres in the Northeast region via fibre optic cables.
HostDime has also signed a partnership with telecommunications provider Tely to boost connectivity speeds of data exchange between the data centre and clients’ locations.
Filipe Mendes, CEO of HostDime Brazil, said: “Our data centre has been certified, as well as the optic fiber network that interconnects the Northeast states.
“This allows us to answer all the IT infrastructure needs of businesses that are looking for quality and security in data hosting and connectivity.
“40% of the capacity of this new data centre has already been allocated and the forecast is to reach maximum occupancy in mid 2018.”
Renan Hannouche, director of digital solutions at HostDime Brazil, said: “When it comes to the hosting of an email or a business website, the hosting place does not really make a difference.
“However, when we talk about ERPs, digital shopping systems and other corporate applications, proximity is a key factor.”
