executive moves

Executive has served as leasing agent for Digital Realty, completing approximately 35MW of transactions on behalf of the data centre REIT.

CBRE has expanded its in-house data centre team with the addition of former JLL and Cushman & Wakefield data centre and commercial real estate veteran Jonathan Meisel.

He has been appointed as a Senior Vice President in the company’s Central New Jersey office.

Prior to joining CBRE, Meisel worked for 13 years at JLL, where he was a founding partner of the company’s New Jersey office.

With a background in mechanical engineering, Meisel was the eastern team lead for JLL’s data centre practice group, completing major critical facility transactions on behalf of major corporate data centre occupiers.

He also served as leasing agent for Digital Realty in New Jersey, completing approximately 35MW of transactions on behalf of the data centre REIT.

Pat Lynch, senior managing director, Data Center Solutions, CBRE, said: “Jon’s extensive data centre experience will strengthen our Data Center Solutions team in the Tri-State area and around the US.

“We look forward to the contributions he will make in building advantage for our clients in this expanding sector.”

According to CBRE, the Tri-State area is one of the largest data centre markets in the US. The market saw 2.9 MW of positive net absorption in H1 2017, lowering the market’s wholesale vacancy rate to 18.2%.

“While most of New Jersey’s historic activity has traditionally been fuelled by the financial services industry and the large Wall Street firms, the market is beginning to see demand from other sectors, such as health care, online gaming and social media,” the company said in a statement.
