Equinix, Microsoft top executives join Splunk’s board of directors



With revenues topping $950m in 2016 and a market capitalisation of more than $8bn, Splunk is readying for its next phase of growth.

Operational intelligence software company Splunk (Nasdaq: SPLK) has appointed Equinix’s CMO Sara Baack and Jive Software’s former CEO Elisa Steele to its board of directors as the company enters the next phase of customer success, innovation and growth.

While the two executives joined the board, long-standing director David Hornik has officially retired.

Equinix’s Baack has more than 20 years of experience as a strategy, marketing, and operations executive.

Prior to Equinix, she held several senior vice president roles at Level 3 Communications, running product lines and business units and managing merger integrations.

She has also worked in financial services as an investment banker and private equity investor in the communications sector. Sara holds an MBA from Harvard Business School with High Distinction and a B.A. from Rice University.

As for Steele, she also has more than 20 years of experience leading and transforming technology companies. Steele was most recently CEO of Jive Software and a member of the Jive Board of Directors.

Prior to Jive, she served as Microsoft’s chief marketing officer and corporate vice president, consumer apps and services.

She also served as the chief marketing officer at Skype and as executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Yahoo!.

Steele has held leadership roles at NetApp, Sun Microsystems and AT&T Business Services. Steele holds an MBA from San Francisco State University and a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire.
