Digital Realty leader joins Kao Data as CTO to drive business at UK’s largest data centre campus
Site enters final months of construction with power in place and data centre hardware fittings due to begin in the coming weeks ahead of December’s opening.
After spending 11 years at Digital Realty, Gerard Thibault has left to become Kao Data’s new CTO.
He was responsible for the design and implementation of over 150MW of data centre space across 24-sites globally while at Digital Realty.
Kao Data, which is currently in the final stages of construction of phase one of what will be the UK’s largest data centre campus, has tasked Thibault with the design strategy of for the project.
He will work closely with the delivery and operations team led by Paul Finch, COO.
The company said that key to the appointment is Thibault’s experience in developing long-term sustainability solutions using the cutting-edge design, focussed on customer technology requirements.
Thibault is a Chartered Engineer, having graduated with an Honours Batchelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in 1986.
He has continued to gain qualifications in building services engineering, including becoming an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) in 2010.

Kao Data London One, the company’s first data centre at the Kao Data Campus is on schedule to go live with 8.8MW white space capacity by December 2017.
The site has recently drawn in 35MW of power and its part of an overall investment of more than £200m.
